Dr. Newland is a Licensed Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Child, Adolescent and Family. She is credentialed with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. She is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA), APA Practice Organization, APA Division 53: Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Kentucky Psychological Association, Association for Play Therapy and Kentucky Association for Play Therapy. In addition to psychological testing and assessment of a variety of issues, her other interests include Early Childhood prevention and treatment, anxiety and mood disorders, ADHD, adolescent issues, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and trauma informed care and treatment.
Dr. Newland’s experience has included working in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health, psychiatric hospitals and in-home therapy. She employs an interpersonal, humanistic, motivational, and developmental-systems based approach to cognitive behavioral therapy. She believes clients are their own ‘expert’ on themselves and works in collaboration with them to find their inner strengths and learn to lead a balanced life in mind, body and spirit.
